Melaka

About 1 month or so ago, my company MD decided that a group of us should leave the office and head to Melaka for 3 days of meetings. He thought we were so distracted in the office to concentrate on this big project we are all handling. When wind got out that the 10 of us were going to Melaka, everyone said it was going to be a holiday and we were going there to meet half the day then hang out at the swimming pool with pina colada.

Boy everyone was so wrong. We ended up having meetings from 930am all the way to 8pm and sometimes 9pm at night. I was more tired going through the 3 days then working in the office. Our rooms where on the 20th (top floor) and I managed to catch some shots.

I woke up early on the first morning to take this picture. We got a room that faces the Straights of Melaka and also Pulau Melaka. I took another picture at a more decent time and there was more color in the picture.

The other side of the hotel faces the Eye of Melaka and also the mouth of Sungai Melaka.
Since we didn't have much time to do much sightseeing at night, I could only take some night pictures from the hotel itself. I was surprised with what I got. I never actually expected to get this.

The first picture is the same view of the mouth of Sungai Melaka and the second picture is of Melaka City itself. I was quite shocked when I saw the results.

Home made to Commercial

Saturday we had pork burger at Saw Wen's place, Wednesday we decided to have pork burger at Kissaten. The first time we were at Kissaten, Amy couldn't decide what to eat and we were all super hungry. We tried to move her along and finally after some convincing from the waiter there she decided to try the Teriyaki Pork burger. It was deliciously juicy, the teriyaki sauce was sweet and nice and the egg was cooked so that the yoke was still runny. It was a totally delicious burger.

This time I decided to order it as well.

I seriously hope you are drooling right about now. I mean how can you not unless of course you are of a race that cannot eat this kinda meat. But heck look at the teriyaki sauce dripping down and the egg nicely packed in there. Amy also ordered the burger and this is how she look when it came.

Amy figuring out how to devour the burger

I love the burger so much that to show my appreciation...

I decide to also advertise a little la of this place. I do not want it to chap lap since they do server fantastic burgers and a low low price.

Something that is not low low price at this place is the Green Tea. It cost like 4.90 just for the green tea and being the kiamsiap I am, I couldn't bring myself to pay that. So I ordered some honey lemon soda.

All in all it is a good dinner and anyone hungry for a pork burger should head to Jaya One and directly to Kissaten and order the Teriyaki Pork Burger. There is no regrets there for sure. Well actually got one regret lar, my pants a little tigheter already lar. Crap.

WenWay Party 2010

It is becoming a standard annual thing, towards the end of the year we will have a super party to celebrate the Wen Way's birthday. 2 years back it was at Royale Bintang which I missed, last year was Duta Vista which we blew up a TV and shorted out the entire apartment. Oh yea and we drank ourselves silly which is also a standard for the Wen Way Party.

This year being 2010, they have decided to tone it back down and reduce the crazy partying and boozing. So this year we all gathered at Saw Wen's place for some Burgers, Brownies and Booze. We arrived there when no one was around and the food was being prepared.

All the food all combines into....

Drooling yet? Yup that is an original Saw Wen pork burger. It was nice a juicy and taste extremely good. The combination of fried egg, pineapple and cheese, took us very close to heaven. Mark had 3 burgers I think. After we finished off the burgers, we had hot brownie with vanilla ice cream.

Saw Wen heated it up in the microwave over for like 10 seconds and with the ice cream, it is the perfect combination. Again this is an original bejewelled* choc brownie. See how the choc and ice cream melt together. It was DELICIOUS!!!!

The food and booze was so good that Sharon as again couldn't contain herself.

Sharon thinks she is a flower
Sharon thinks she is a lamp
Yea pork + sugar + mangkuk-itis = Crazy Ah Chan.

I brought my parents Canon Power Shot S95 along and it had a wink shutter function. What happens is that the camera will focus on a face and all the person has to do is to wink and it will active a 2 second timer. We tested it out tonight.

It worked to a certain degree. As long as you wink big enough. Next we took some group shots.

After the 2 crazy face De Way, he cannot tahan that he so small so he decided to do something to take the attention of the picture.

We proceeded to drink our heads of thanks to one of Saw Wen's colleagues who was force feeding us Grey Goose Vodka. It was really good vodka but we were just downing the shots like it was water. After everyone left the Wen Way's opened their presents to show it to every one.

What is a party without some crazy videos. So this is Saw Wen trying to imitate Ah Chan.

As you would notice our fellow mangkuk-itis member Stephers was missing. She was suffering from upper respiratory track infection and when John asked where Stephers was, Mark said in a super slumber face "She has urinary track infection". All of us laughed our heads off and poor Stephers must have started cough like mad. Sorry Steph. Wish you where there. Really.

It was a great night, we had great food, great dessert, great drinks and even better company. I hope the Wen Way will like the presents that we gave them. Waiting for next year!

Just before I go, I would like to officially congratulate Jim for becoming an honorary Mangkuk-itis. You are one of us now unfortunately. Haha

1 color split into 7 Colors

One weekday morning a couple weeks back I reluctantly woke up from bed. I was so reluctant to wake up because it was drizzling and it was nice and cold. It was so nice to sleep that I felt I was never meant to wake up that morning.

However, I had to wake up and the funny thing about today is that I actually took a look out of my window which I seldom do in the morning. What I saw stunned me.

For some reason I seldom see rainbows in Malaysia. I guess it is because of our weather, it is either super hot or monsoon type rain. It could also be because our driving is so bad that most of the time the Leprechaun at the end of the rainbow was killed before the rainbow can even reach the ground.

The other surprising thing about this morning is that not only did I see 1 rainbow, there was 2 rainbows.

This is truly amazing. Another funny thing about this morning is that when I saw the rainbow, the first thing I did was to take my camera, run down to my garden and took some pictures. I climbed my wall that separates my house from my neighbour to take a picture. My neighbour was washing the dishes and she said "Yes Hello can I help you?"

She must have been blinded or super "fatt hau" man. My camera wasn't even pointed in her direction. It was pointed way upwards and she thought I was taking a picture of her? Sorry AUNTY I won't waste my  shutter on you. CRAZY!!!!

*Saying Bye Bye*

About 3 plus years ago I walked into a store without the intention of getting anything. I had intentions just to enquire about the price but never thought of buying it as yet. However the super sales man allowed me to test it and after much convincing myself and with Amy's "help", I decided to take the plunge and get it.

So I ended up getting one of the best lens I have ever bought.

Up till today I still maintain this is one of the lens which I bought and didn't regret getting it. At one point in my photography hobby that I only had 1 lens and this was the lens. It was always mounted on my camera and I used it to shoot weddings and events.

It was my walk around lens and it even travelled with me to a couple of overseas destination. However ever since I upgraded to a full frame camera, I am not able to use this lens anymore. If did mount it on my full frame sensor and what I got was.

Since Amy was still using her 400D, I passed it to her and she had it for a good 1 year to 2 years. However she doesn't see much use for it since it is not her cuppa tea. So I decided to post it up online for sale and as of yesterday my Tamron 17-50 F2.8 has a new owner. At least it is being used instead of sitting in a dry box doing nothing.

Even after 2+ years of usage it was still relatively clean and pristine.

So I have to say bye bye to this fantastic lens. Anyone looking for a new lens please purchase this. It is really good and sharp and worth it.

Start of a new day

Sunrise while you are on the beach is one of the best times take photos. It is better still if you are around the unpolluted east coast of Malaysia. I decide to wake up just before dawn to take some sunrise pictures.

When the sun is still relatively low in the sky, the blue in the skies is more prevalent.

As the sun rises a little higher, the scene becomes warmer and the blue of the sky is replaced with orange.

When it gets even further then the orange will turn into burning orange.

The blue of the skies are gone but with some tweaking on the settings of the camera we can balance the fiery orange with some blue in the sky.

Surprisingly the moon was still up and I managed to catch a shot of the opposite of the sun.

I really like going to the east coast. The place is clean, the people are friendly, the food is fantastic and things are still relatively cheap. Next time I must at least reach Kuala Terrenganu and maybe Kelantan.
