Day Trip to Hong Kong

Next day of our holiday, we went for a day trip to Hong Kong. We woke up bright and early and went to the Taipah ferry terminal to take a ferry to Hong Kong. It would take about 1 hour or one and a half hours on the ferry. It is huge ferry and it is very nice. We didn't have much things to do while on the ferry, so apa lagi? Camwhore la....

When we got to Hong Kong, the first thing we got was the Visitor Day Trip tickets costing HKD55 and it allows us to take unlimited MRT and bus rides.. The Hong Kong MRT is super major long. I think it is at least 2 or 3 times longer then our longest train and it travels FAST!!!.

The nearest place to the ferry terminal was the Peak Tram, so we decided to head there first....

The Peak tram is basically like the Penang Hill funicular but it is super crazy steep and it goes up the hill so we can see Hong Kong from the top.

It was quite a scary but very fun ride and about 20 min later we got to the top and we saw a very familiar face. This is how the Ting men say hello to a familiar face...

We walked around and well what you do when you go on holiday? MAKAN!!!!

Oh yea that is a bowl of wantan mee and in Hong Kong. Actually I have had some Hong Kong wantan mee in Hong Kon and I still think that Malaysian wantan mee is much better. For some reason the mee had a very ammonium taste which to me taste really weird. The difference is the soup is much nicer then the ones we get in Malaysia and the wantan is much much better. I think the reason is because they use the whole prawn and the prawn is really fresh. 

After we had our lunch, went crazy with photos.....

We spent about 2 hours at the Peak Tram and when we got down, we were really glad that we decided to go to the Peak Tram the first thing in the morning. When we got down, the line to take the tram up was so long it went all the way outside the queuing area. 

After the Peak tram we went towards Ngong Ping 360 which is the cable car which you take to go and see the big buddha. 

I have to say that I really enjoyed the cable car towards the Big Buddha. We got a cable car to ourselves and the cable car was so near the airport, I got this...

The ride took about 30-45 minutes and at some stage it was really steep. I totally enjoyed the ride up and again went nuts with the camera....

On the way up, I saw this....

I do not see how this sign actually means High Speed Cable Car. It looks more like Caution! You can hang outside of the cable car if you want. Haha.

The Big Budda is totally awesome and so very serene. However you need to climb some steps before you get up there...

We spent quite a few hours there with lots of pictures....

We were super major tired by the time we got down but man it was such a good experience. The other thing was on the way down I actually lost my return ticket. Lucky they were good enough to issue me another one free of charge. Phew. By the way it cost something like HKD160 (RM80) for a return ticket. So if I needed to get another ticket it would be bad. Also on the way down, we were hot and we decided to get something refreshing. 

I decided to get an Ice Cream and my dad decided to get a can of beer. My ice cream cost HKD20 and his beer cost HKD10. Since when does ice cream cost more then beer? 

We got back to Hong Kong city, and our legs were at the point of breaking. We decided just to sit at a food court to rest our feet and wait for the Arena of Stars. What is the Arena of Stars? Well it is the famous laser light show in front of the Hong Kong night city skyline. It is also the place you get the famous Hong Kong city skyline panorama....

I have to say the scenery was really nice but the laser lights were kind of a let down. I kinda expected more for such a huge tourist attraction but it was just mediocre. I have seen better during some of those new year celebrations. So I would say you got to go there but the laser show is not a must.

After the Arena of Stars we rushed back to the ferry terminal to get on the 10pm ferry ride back to Macau. If we missed that, we would have to wait a whole hour which is the last ferry back to Macau. We got back to Macau totally exhausted and I do not think any of us walked that much in our lives. One thing I realised about Hong Kong is there are no public seats, restaurants are so small and packed, you kinda get "chased" out and the lack of rubbish bins is staggering. 

All in all it was good fun but man it was tiring and Hong Kong is a crazy expensive place. I mean RM20-30 for a bowl of noodles is crazy. I do not think I can ever stand staying in Hong Kong. Unless of course I am making big money. :)
