Kinect-ing

Just after Chinese New Year, MeiMon's invited a bunch of us over to their place to finish off the new year cookies they have stocked up. However the main purpose was to Kinect. I never know how much fun Kinect was and what a sweat it was until I played it. A couple weeks before this day, Mei Foong invited me over to her place and I had a glimpse of Kinect.

We played this fitness game where you were suppose to flap your hands up and down like a bird. The objective was to pump and break as many balloons as you can in 2 minutes. After that day my arms were aching for a couple of days.

So for the people who had yet to Kinect we made them do the same thing as well. Since none of them knew how to play and the people who knew (MeiMon and Steph) didn't want to start first, so I went. My target was 30 and I think I got 32 balloons. Then it was time for the rest to try it out...

After a very very very long time trying to persuade the host to try they finally did it. Initially we didn't under stand what Simon was saying when he said if you squat it would be easier for the balloons to burst. His own words were do the "pang say" pose and it would help. When it was time for his turned we asked him to demonstrate....

Wow No Mo you really went all the way down leh. Finally we also got Mei Foong to try it out...

Wen Way came late and as a consequence they had to do it as well. De Way was a bit apprehensive when he first started because of the so called "pang sai" pose but in the end also he got into the groove. He did however do the right thing which was to warm up by stretching.

What he didn't know was the games we were playing was actually the warm up...

Next we went on to the next game which was you need to lift your hands up as if you are carrying a plank and you need to catch and balance point blocks that fall down from the sky. The plank gets bigger if you stand on one leg. As again I started it and the rest followed...

Looking at Gim's face, it is obvious that the game was way too easy for him. We then persuaded Sharon to do some bollywood...

We ended the day by playing this rafting game that involves jumping around....

Wow De Way so high until you almost hit the ceiling. Kinect can be dangerous too. Hehe. It was a great day of Kinect but man it was tiring. Everyone was sweating and panting especially after the warm up exercises.

Crumbs

One day out of no where Amy just told me that her friend's sister has opened a sandwich shop near Bangsar. Thanks to me studying in Australia, I love sandwiches and so I said why not lets go check it out. So we headed to Lucky Garden Bangsar and went too...

It is a nice half a shop at lucky garden Bangsar and very nicely decorated...

Very quaint and very simple and I am loving it. On on side of us were mirrors and we had some really good fun with it.

I seldom do any like self portrait but I just couldn't resist this one...

Now down to the food, the sandwich at Crumbs were given some weird names.

When I read the menu for the "hot sammich" I knew exactly which one to order for Amy and I got her the Salmon Ninja and I had myself the I has Mary's Little Lamb. Not only did I has Mary's little lamb, I am gonna eat it as well. Hehe. We also order some coffee and the coffee came in some really nice cups.

The coffee you can choose between imported beans and also local Aik Cheong beans. We decided to go for the imported beans and unfortunately it was just so so. I think the cup was too big and they filled it up with too much milk. The coffee didn't have much coffee taste and since it was a friend's shop we told them about it and they will improve on it.

Next was the reason why we were there in the first place and....

i has Mary's little lamb

salmon ninja

The salmon ninja sammich was totally absolutely delicious. The smoke salmon was absolutely done to perfection and to top things off they had wasabi cream cheese. Now it may sound super weird but the wasabi wasn't hot but it just had a nice hint and hit of wasabi that was pleasant. The combination was just great.

I has Mary's little lamb was great as well but not as good as the salmon ninja. The lamb was nicely roasted and also moist. I like the best is the pickled onions and a slight very slight hint of mint sauced. It was complimented with the toasted panini and it was delicious.

Both sammich was complimented with a side of salad with a nice citrus vinaigrette and self fried potato chips. The Salad with its tangy citrus vinaigrette and pumpkin seeds was appetising and but the potato chips took the cake. It was thinly sliced and fried till crispy. Even then it wasn't greasy but very very very nice and crispy.

We were filled with the hot sammich and Amy was telling me about the chef's fantastic brownie and we couldn't leave Crumbs without trying it. So we ordered it and it came....

It looked like a very normal brownie topped with Vanilla Ice Cream but the proof was in the tasting. So we...

OMG I can tell you it was fantastic. They of course warmed up the brownie so it was nice and warm inside. The chocolate they used was very high quality and it showed in the taste of the brownie. Now when you combine the warm brownie with the high quality chocolate and the cold and milky ice cream. Well as Amy put it we were in brownie heaven. We just savoured the brownie till its last bit of flour, chocolate, milk and caramel.

They had some flowers for decoration and since I had a macro lens so decided to do some macro shots.

I think you would kinda get the idea that the red moustache was they signature and they showed it off to us.

Quite a few people that have come to the shop have taken picture with the red moustache. So I was really waiting for them to ask and when they finally did, we took it for them and more...

I would really come back to Crumbs for sandwich and the brownie. It was truly fantastic and you may ask where are they located?

Basically they are at lucky garden's opposite Bangsar Village 1. If you look across from Bangsar Village 1 you will see TMC and if you go 2 rows back you will see Alliance Bank and it is the same row as Alliance Bank.

Mythbusted

If the last book you just read is Facebook (quoted from Ju Kuang) then you would have noticed that yesterday everyone have been putting up pictures of eggs standing on its end. Yea, I couldn't help it myself and I decided to do it as well. However , when Amy told me about it, I remember somewhere back in my dust cob webbed memory that I heard the reason for why eggs stands up straight is because of gravity.

Basically when the earth is at the summer and spring position, the gravity pull from the sun is the highest and it will make an egg do...

Apparently yesterday was the day according to Facebook people but I found out after some research that it is actually on the 20th March which is called Spring Equinox. Apparently it is a big thing in certain western cultures and it actually comes up on the news every year. However it is only during the Spring Equinox.

Further research and I found out that actually it is myth that egg can stand on itself on the Spring Equinox only. You can actually make an egg stand on itself on any random day of the year. It really depends on the freshness and content of the egg.

Some also stipulate that it is caused by some imperfections of the shell which allows for the egg to stand on its send.

So go out, buy a tray of eggs and try to make it stand. It takes a while and some patients but apparently you are able to do it any time of the day. MYTHBUSTED!!

Smurftastic Day

Girls can be so very evil when they want to. A couple of my friends who were girls got some nice smurf stickers for De Way who hates smurf more then he hates Hello Kitty. He is willing to trade his smurf book mark with a Hello Kitty Key Chain. That is how much he hates smurf.

So anyway, they passed me the smurf stickers for me to take revenge about the saman I got from De way. We wrote the saman and I came up with the cool saman...

Once we got the saman ready, it took close to almost a week later before this happened...

Someone must have tipped De Way off because I couldn't find his car for over a week. I told the girls who bought the stickers and they said we will be patient and strike when he doesn't expect it. They even wanted to go to his house to do it. Haha.

Finally one day when I was about to drive home, I took a detour to find De Way's car and I was so happy when I spotted it. De Way you have been SAMANED by PAPA SMURF. La la la la la la lets sing a happy song. Hehe.

Formula Drift 2011

Towards the end of last year, my friend Jack one day asked me if I was interested to go for a drift event. I automatically said yes and we were suppose to go for the qualifying on Saturday. However, it rained on that day and because I had a wedding to attend in the evening, I decided to go on a Sunday instead. The best thing about knowing people is you can get stuff like...

Oh yea baby that is Media pass to the event, basically it grants us almost all access to the entire racing area. Big thanks to The Car Guys for giving us the media pass. There were special media areas and we could even go to the pits. The only thing we couldn't go to were the track itself. We made the best of the media pass and first went to where most of the media were camped out.

We got very close to the action and I managed to get some nice drifting action. We were there not more then 15 minutes and the event had their first casualty. I didn't actually catch the car hitting the barrier but when I saw him coming into the corner, I realised instantly that no way he was going to make it. This was the results....

The car was unfortunately trashed and had to be towed away. The driver did however get a rousing applause as he was towed away. Not too long after one of our Malaysian drivers suffered a huge tyre blow out just as he was about to start drifting. He spun right in front of us.

What was really refreshing is the guy that he was racing, got off his car and shook hands with TTW (Malaysian Driver)

After a while, I decided to get creative and do some panning shots. I wanted to get some panning shots with blur tyres (to show the car was moving).

I was pretty excited with some of the outcome of the panning shots. It showed the car was moving pretty fast and I was even more surprised when I got 2 bonus shots.

What is so great about this shot? Well the background has motion blur which shows the car is moving pretty fast, the front wheels are turning as well so means the car is moving and not stationary and the kicker is the back wheels are in full lock means they pulled the hand brake as soon as my shutter clicked. I would call this the money shot of the day.

With the first stage of the drifting over, I decided to take some pictures of people instead...

There weren't many hot chicks but this was the best I could do. During the mid time interval, the main sponsor had something in store for people at the event.

Oh yea it it is huge hot air balloon in the shape of a sim card. How awesome is that? If you bought a prepaid sim or top up your pre paid sim with RM30 value, you get a ride for one person. If you top-up RM50 and you get a ride for 2 people.

We used our media pass to gain access to the pits and it was amazing.

Most of these guys are packing some serious hardware. Most of them were running turbos and it was such a short track

Some were also running twin turbos on their cars

The most impressive thing is were some of them were also running NOS. I wouldn't expect people to run NOS but there they were...

Before the second round started, we decided to change vantage point to see if we could get a different view point. Oh boy we got it and this time we were even closer to the action. Just before they started with the second round, all the drivers did a parade lap.

This was followed by some burning rubber and donut drawing courtesy of the youngest driver of the field and title sponsor Achilles tyres

The the drift action started and I caught  some close drifting action....

Unfortunately the 3 of us had to leave before the event ended as we had a badminton game to attend. However we left happy and pumped full of adrenaline. We have to thank Jack and The Car Guys for giving us the media pass and allowing us to get so close we could hear the tyre screeching, smell burnt rubber and even hear the NOS being activated. It was AWESOME!!!!
